Refill Ink Cartridges 101

There are two types of ink: pigment-based ink and dye-based ink. Pigment-based ink does not dissolve completely and is more water-resistant than dye-based ink. The HP 93 cartridge is uses dye-based ink, which produces the best ink flow. This is the reason why most inkjet printers use dye-based ink.

The HP 93 is a tri-color cartridge because multiple colors are more possible with dye-based inks than those that are pigment-based. Another bonus to HP 93’s dye-based ink cartridge is that it does not need to be refilled as often as black pigment-based ink like Hp 56. This means it lasts longer.

While the benefits of the HP93 inkjet cartridge are numerous, there are a few more requirements when refilling this cartridge. Unlike many other cartridges, which contain pigment-cased ink, the HP93 requires three different color inks. While the process for refilling all ink cartridges is the same, the HP 93 requires three injector tools (or one tool that needs to be thoroughly cleaned after each color is added) instead of one.

To assure quality printing, inkjet inks must meet six specific requirements:

      • They must print solid blacks and/ or colors
      • They must flow freely
      • They must not dry out in cartridge
      • They must dry instantly on paper
      • They must retain their viability in heat or cold
      • They must be non-toxic

The logic behind refilling ink cartridges is to recycle what you have, and at the same time, save money. With today’s advances, refilling cartridges is relatively easy, but effective.

The most important thing you can do when refilling your HP 93 inkjet cartridge is to refill it when there is still a small amount of ink left in cartridge. This will prevent burn out of the resistors, as well as serious clogging problems. In addition, waiting until all the ink is gone will dry out and clog the holes on the printer head, which will prohibit good ink flow. For the best quality performance of your HP 93 ink jet cartridge, you need to have consistent ink flow.

Equally important when refilling your HP 93 inkjet cartridge and other dye-based, tri-color inks try to avoid mixing the colors together. Therefore, you must thoroughly clean the injector tool after each use. Contaminating colors will result in low quality and defective color prints. Separating the colors will give you high quality prints.

To assure your success in effectively refilling your HP 93 inkjet cartridge, step-by-step instructions are provided in your refill kit, Follow these directions and you will discover the ease of refilling your cartridge. You will also appreciate the money you save.
